Ready to Apply? Use this checklist as your guide.

  • Select your program of study
This is required when you complete your application, and will help ensure that you get the most financial aid possible. See Programs of Study
  • Complete the online application via the link below.
Some programs (such as EMS, Practical Nursing, Nursing, OTA, Radiography, and Sonography) require additional steps for program entry, so please review the program requirements carefully.
  • Complete the FAFSA for all relevant aid years.
    SWCC's code is 007260 https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa
  • English & Math Placement.
There are several options to help inform your placement without having to take a test! Students who have graduated from high school within 5 years will be able to use a combination of courses completed and GPA, while students who graduated more than 5 years ago will be able to use an informed self-placement process. English & Math Placement
  • Contact your program advisor.
When you complete the application, you will be assigned to a student success and faculty member who will advise you on course selection, timing and sequence. This relationship is critical for your success. Program advisors can be viewed in your student account information in Navigate (MYSouthwest).

After you submit your application, your confirmation page will provide important information about enrollment access. A "New Student Hold" is placed on all new applicants. New students must schedule an advising session with a Student Success Advisor before the hold is removed and enrollment access granted.  To contact a Student Success Advisor, please call 276-964-7300, e-mail online_advisor@sw.edu, or visit Buchanan Hall Room 100.
